‘Wii o’o’m niin - we love you.
Our Purpose:
To offer an elders/seniors gathering on WEEAD Day, June 1st 2018. The event will pull together the key teachings on respecting elders, keeping them safe to be shared with the local service organizations and Gitxsan communities. We are fortunate to have many community partners: Gitanyow Human Services Society, Gitanyow BC and Storytellers Foundation, Hazelton BC; Gitxsan Unlocking Aboriginal Justice, Gitksan Government Commission, local Gitksan health offices and social development programs.
We will offer monthly or bi-monthly presentations will be made to the elders and seniors groups, sharing local resources and there is an interest to have an elders group with members from each of the communities guide the CRN network. We have started a Facebook page also called ‘Wii o’o’m niin - we love you. We love and respect our elders, seniors, and vulnerable adults as well to help share information.
Purple is the theme color of the CRN events, so we ordered t-shirts and had "It’s Not Right. Nee di hogyax’t. ‘Wii o’o’m niin - we love you" on the front. They were well received! Not Right.
Our draft agenda for June 1, 2018. Haa miya to the many hands that helped pull this together!
